No artist or creator is completely original. Inspiration for our styles comes from the world around us and what we choose to expose ourselves to.  It doesn’t develop out of thin air. The simple formula for finding your style is to take in stimuli from the outside world and twist and shape it into something new with your mind and your hands. Repeat this over and over in a variety of ways. If you are stuck, you need to find new stimuli. Copy the Artists You Like But a bunch of them. If you copy one exactly, you are ripping them off. If you take partial ideas from multiple artists, then you  are able to make something unique. If you haven’t already, you need to read “ Steal Like an Artist ”by  Austin Kleon. Time alone to work has become the most precious thing in the entire world. You have absolutely no choice but to make things happen with your work. For those of us that have the “creative itch”, not making time for your art can lead to regret if we don’t answer the calling. Those minutes add up to days, months, and years. We look back and wish that we would have just spent a little more time on our passions – our callings. What Career Options are there for an Artist? A career in art is not limited to being a painter of canvases which get framed and sold in a gallery. There are stage set designers and builders. There are computer game designers.
